Dr. Patel earned his medical doctorate from New York Medical College after graduating from Rutgers University with high honors in 3 years. Dr. Patel completed his 5-year orthopedic surgery residency at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center/Seton Hall University. During his final year of residency, Dr. Patel served as chief resident, where he led the day-to-day organization of the program and mentored junior residents. He then further specialized in spine surgery by completing a fellowship at the renowned Texas Back Institute, one of the first facilities in the United States to successfully perform a total disc replacement.
During his time at Texas Back Institute, Dr. Patel trained under internationally recognized spine surgeons, learning minimally invasive and robotic spine surgery, motion preserving artificial disc replacement of the cervical and lumbar spine, spine trauma, complex scoliosis, and tumor surgery. He also trained with world-renowned spine surgeons from Germany, enhancing his expertise in endoscopically assisted spine surgery.
Dr. Patel is a board certified orthopedic surgeon and is recognized as a Fellow of the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Patel has published multiple articles in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national conferences, and is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the North American Spine Society.
