What Causes a Disc Tear?

A disc tear happens when the inner nerve endings emerge outside of the protective disc walls causing a herniation. This condition is most likely felt in the neck and lower back due to a sports injury, some type of trauma, or due to the natural aging process.

Most people experience a disc tear from disc degeneration caused by getting older in age. As you get older, the discs weaken, which leaves it at a higher risk of tearing. As the disc weakens, it loses flexibility and is easily impacted.
